How to motivate undervalued staff?
whenever you notice a performance done at par or above the expected standard,then commend the staff. Remember to be specific when giving feedback, positive and negative. Avoid nasty criticisms.

we have staff forum meetings every quarter which is chaired by the operations director and if out of 10 topics in which staff request stuff the answer is usually a big NO, the biggest thing we got offered recently was a whopping £7 pound a month off a Holmes Place health club,big deal! we used to have a staff draw once a month which usually consisted of a pair of theatre tickets and that's about that they are organizing a staff picnic in in a couple of weeks, no Golf society any more, we have a Xmas party (didn't go last year) and they do a kids party.
When I worked at Stakis the employee of the month was popular along with the hotel discount the staff loved those. |
